    The college owes its establishment to Sant Darbara Singh Ji who was a holy man, a born genius, great visionary enlighten personality & a divine soul Committed to the upliftment of society through women education, he spent his whole life to bring about moral & religious upliftment & social renaissance through education. He established various institution like Sant Darbara Singh College for Women in 1971, Sant Darbara Singh College of Education for Women in 1976 and Sant Darbara Singh Kanya Sen. Sec. School in 1982.

    He also started Sant Darbara Singh School of Nursing, Lopon (Moga) in 2018, D.El.Ed. classes Commenced in 2006 under the guidance and blessings of Sant Jagjit Singh Ji Maharaj. Ek Onkar Trust runs all these institutions very well. These institutions are the visualization of great vision revealed to him by Sant Mit Singh ji Maharaj. It is indeed a great service not only in the field of women education but it has great importance for teacher education too. The primary object of Sant Darbara Singh College of education for women is to inculcate the spirit of dedication among the would be teaches.

    Along with the academic courses of studies, stress is laid on character formation through religious education and social service i.e. Sewa Simaran and Abhiyas. The college is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh(under 95% Grant-in-Aid Scheme) and also recognized by NCTE vide letter no. F.No. NRC/NCTE/F-3/P.U 14/97/4988. The college campus is spread over the area of 7.5 acres and is well connected with major towns and cities by road. The college has intake capacity of 150 for B.Ed, 50 for M.Ed and 50 for ETT. Presently, the institution is being run by Ek Onkar Trust under the presidency of Sant Jagjit Singh Ji, who is dedicated social worker as well as high spirited religious preacher. The college motto 'ਮਨ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਮੱਤ ਉਚੀ' reflects its goal and mission .
